Nia Nikkhahmanesh - Undergraduate Researcher

Picture

I am an undergraduate student majoring in Neuroscience with an emphasis in cognition, and I am minoring in Spanish. I joined the Beilstein lab in the Spring semester of 2016. I have been learning about the enzyme telomerase and about the TER genes in the plant family Brassicaceae.

Outside of the lab, I volunteer at the Banner University Medical Center as a patient advocate, and this involves speaking to various patients about their life and other topics of interests to offer moral support. I am also involved in the pre-professional health society Alpha Epsilon Delta that deals with expanding my knowledge about medical professions and medical applications in the world today. I enjoy yoga, playing the violin, Persian music, and getting to know new people.
