Michael McConaughy - Undergraduate Researcher

Picture

I am an undergraduate researcher at the University of Arizona in the Beilstein Lab. I am majoring in Biology with an emphasis in biomedical sciences. I’ve been with the Beilstein Lab since early 2014 researching genetic functions and interactions in the plant family Brassicaceae; specifically, the evolution of telomerase RNA.

Outside of the lab, I volunteer my time at the University of Arizona Medical Center as a research associate for numerous case studies and medical trials. I also actively volunteer at the Pima Animal Care Center where I assist in the care of a variety of indigent animals. I enjoy working on cars, exercising outdoors, listening to music, and exploring all that the beautiful city of Tucson has to offer.
