Ari Meldrum - Undergraduate Researcher
I am an undergraduate researcher who joined the lab in January 2014. I am a Molecular and Cellular Biology / Russian double major. My project focuses on the evolution of the different components of telomerase in the family Brassicaceae, specifically the telomerase RNA component, or TER. The long-term goals of this project are to sequence and locate the TER for 5 different species of Brassicaceae.
Outside of the lab, I work closely with the public education system trying to develop new methods to better integrate technology and cultural learning into classrooms. I’m interested in education and how it can change in coming years in order to account for the rapid globalization of information and culture. I love to play soccer and garden, and am originally from north Phoenix. Next summer I plan on studying abroad in Russia and visiting other parts of Eastern Europe.
