Cecilia Martinez - Undergraduate Researcher

Picture

I am an undergraduate student majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with minors in Spanish and Music. I joined the Beilstein lab in January 2019 and work with graduate student, Kelly Dew-Budd, on a project that involves determining if breeding methods or polyploidy are important factors for the requirement of DNA methylation in seed development.

Outside of lab, I primarily spend my time either outdoors, singing, or taking care of my garden and the 40 houseplants that I have.  I am a member of Amplified A Capella here on campus where we sing any and everything ranging from classic rock to contemporary pop music. My favorite thing to do here in Arizona is to explore the local sky islands by either backpacking or hiking in them.
